Clayton Valley Lithium Exploration Test Reflection Seismic Survey Data Acquisition Complete
July 6, 2009
Vancouver, British Columbia … Rodinia Minerals Inc. (“Rodinia” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce an update on the Clayton Valley Lithium Brine Project located in Clayton Valley, Nevada. Clayton Valley is home to the only lithium producer in the United States. This plant extracts lithium from brines pumped from aquifiers below the valley and has been in production since 1967. The plant is designed to produce 1.2 million kg of lithium per year and to date has produced an estimated 50 million kg of lithium. Rodinia’s property is adjacent to this production facility. Hasbrouck Geophysics Inc., acting as a consultant to the Company, has completed the 2D seismic survey on the land package; analysis of the data is pending.
Jim Hasbrouck, BSc, PGp, of Hasbrouck Geophysics, Inc. reports that acquisition of 2.24 miles of reflection seismic data has been completed on lithium claims in Clayton Valley, Nevada optioned by Rodinia Minerals Inc. and under the Operatorship of GeoXplor Corp. The data was acquired along two lines with one essentially crossing the mouth of Paymaster Canyon at the northern extent of Clayton Valley and the other line intersecting and extending southwest into the flats past an existing lithium brine test well. This high-resolution reflection seismic survey used geophone intervals of 4.6 meters with a state-of-the-art 162-channel, 24-bit seismograph and 100- and 200-pound accelerated weight-drop seismic sources. Source points were acquired between each geophone resulting in a maximum common-depth-point (CDP) fold of 81.
This initial reflection seismic survey is designed with a large number of seismic channels, relatively close geophone spacings and high CDP fold so that a robust test data set will be available for interpretation. Previous reflection seismic surveys in the area successfully mapped features of interest for lithium brine exploration and this current test survey is designed to improve upon those results. The test data will also provide parameters that can be optimally modified for additional efficient and effective data acquisition. The results of this survey will supply information on both structural and stratigraphic features as related to the occurrence of lithium brines to depths greater than 250 meters.
In-field inspection of the raw data indicated high quality data and several reflections. The data is currently being processed and final results are expected within two weeks.
The Company plans to apply for drill permits as soon as drill targets are determined and mobilize drill crews as soon as possible.
